Scent Trail - Fragrance Inspiration?

Eau Ressourçante is promoted as a long-lasting woody-floral fragrance which helps to release tension, clear and calm the mind and restore balance. This suggests to me that it has health and theraputic dimensions to it. Perhaps worth a try????

Apparently, François Demachy - Dior perfume creator, was inspired by everyday life in India and added just a touch of chic French style, to the Dior Escale A Pondichery fragrance.

Everything special about Greece was captured by Gullaume Flavigny - Perfumer for the Armani Prive Cèdre Olympe scent.

Lyn Harris - Perfumer produced whats been described as a "nostalgic fragrance with a twist", the perfume, Miller Harris Fleurs de Bois - is Regent's Park, London in a bottle!

Tom Ford's Bois Marocain, is a tribute to Morocco and marketed as an evocative fragrance.

Which made me ponder.... if you were to capture your location in a bottle (like a fragrance) what would be the key elements/smells you'd include in it?

Okay, perhaps a random idea, but I will provide some examples below, to hopefully prompt your thoughts.

Bristol: Waterfront, traffic fumes and burgers...

Ireland: Grass, cattle marts and bacon...

Bath: Olives, flower stands and cosmopolitan visitors...

Weston-super-Mare: fish'n'chips, candyfloss and wet mud...

Oxford: Meadows, river, bicycles and raw sweat generated by runners, rowing, cycling etc

Chester: LUSH products and cobbled streets...

What would be the basis of a location scent near you, I wonder?

I look forward to reading your take on this....

Wisdom without the wilting... If only!

It all started, when I made a decision to de-clutter a corner in one of my rooms that was stacked high with back issues of magazines: Psychologies, SHE and Red. De-clutter for me means read through, select the odd feature to retain and THROW what's left.

The only way I thought I could clear this, was to put my target of reading one book per week on hold and take two with me each day, which would also help my bus ride to feel shorter. One for my outward journey and the other for my return trip.

Amongst my first 10 publications, I came across a dossier "Ageing and the body", which prompted some consideration and observation of how I was doing.

In my experience (so far!) I recollect my hands being described as becoming "Granny hands" by a youngster. Also, soon after my 50th birthday, I recall (for some reason) looking more closely in the mirror and discovering the odd bristle, which I incidentally plucked immediately and do so repeatedly on any sighting! If that wasn't enough clues, beyond my laughter lines I now have a hint of vertical lines appearing from my lower eyes, age freckles are visible on each hand and there is a little excess on the elbows. The odd bit of cellulite and broken veins are further signs of ageing and will ensure I cover certain places, which may be a good thing! The volar side of my forearms are getting scaley which I believe to be due to
age-old skin dehydration.

Not that any of this alters me really..... as I believe ageing needs to be embraced. At the end of the day, my inner values are what make me individual. I will forever strive to live in the moment, remain active, make an effort to be dynamic, think broadly, be consciously open minded and accepting, as I journey through the next milestone.

Those incidental whims and occasional moods of youth have been replaced with indulgent listening and balanced viewpoints, thanks to my lifes broad ranging experiences, to date.

So tonight, I lift my glass and say, "cheers" to those senior moments!

What is your take on ageing?
